Overview

Add supported live stream sources to digital signage screens with reliable fallback behavior.

Before you begin

Confirm the stream protocol, URL, credentials, codec and network reachability from the actual player device.

Good to know

  • Browser players cannot directly decode every RTSP or RTP source.
  • Use supported HLS/WebRTC conversion when required.
  • Never expose private stream credentials publicly.

Publishing

After saving the app, add its slide to a playlist and publish that playlist to the required screen. Use Preview to confirm the layout before sending it to a live display.

Step by Step Guide
Step 1: Create a stream profile

Open Streaming and add a clear source name.

Step 2: Enter the source

Paste the stream URL and add credentials only in the secure fields provided.

Step 3: Choose protocol options

Select the correct stream type and any available latency or transport setting.

Step 4: Test connectivity

Run the stream test from the target network and confirm codec compatibility.

Step 5: Set fallback behavior

Choose a poster or fallback message for temporary stream failure.

Step 6: Save and publish

Save the profile and publish the stream slide to supported players.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does RTSP work in VLC but not a browser?
Browsers do not natively play RTSP. The stream must be converted or handled by a compatible player bridge.
Check that audio uses a supported codec such as AAC and that the player is not muted.
Yes when the app provides credential fields, but use a limited stream account and never share the URL publicly.
